The RIBA, RTPI, TCPA, ILA, GHS, and the SGD - who knows where and how these different organisations began? What was the catalyst? And when? And who was involved at the beginning? And then what happened next…?

The Landscape Institute (LI) is coming up to their 100 anniversary in 2029, and not so many people now know about its origins or the connections through people sharing professions, interests and ideas between other organisations and pressure groups. In collaboration with The Gardens Trust, FOLAR are looking forward to presenting this next series of online talks and to track down some of the roots.

In this first series, our speakers will cover the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), The Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA), The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), The Institute of Landscape Architects (ILA), the Garden History Society (GHS), The Society of Garden Designers (SGD). The time range spans from 1834 to 1981. And we hope that you will join us!

Speakers: Alan Powers, David Mountain, David Jacques, Mike Dawson and Andrew Wilson.
